Though we use the highest quality soy wax, this time of year when the temperature changes you may notice a few unique characteristics that in no way effect the quality of the candles and are not defects. Soy candles are very sensitive to temperature and light so be aware of the location when placing or storing your soy candle. Ignite Australia believes in producing a natural candle and therefore will not use additives/chemicals to control these characteristics.
FROSTING/MOTTLING/BLOOM is caused when a crystal different from the body of the candle is formed while liquid wax turns into a solid. When a liquid turns into a solid it forms crystals. Frosting is the formation of a different type of crystal than that of the body of the candle. The frosting and the body are the exact same material with a different crystal structure. i.e. when water freezes you may see clear ice with white looking frosting on it. While they appear different, both are made of water.
WET LOOKING SPOTS - You may notice some wet looking spots on your candle where the wax has adhered to the surface of the glass. They are caused by temperature variations and are simply due to the expansion and contraction of the wax. You will notice they will also change when the candle burns or the room conditions change.
CANDLE CARE - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
A little guide to assist you in getting the most from your Ignite Australia candles. Our candles are made from natural products and wax is purchased from RSPO certified growers to ensure we are environmentally friendly. Never leave burning candles unattended. Always keep out of reach from children & pets. Never move a burning candle as hot wax can spill and cause severe burns. Containers can also get very hot. Always burn candles on a level surface which is heat resistant and inflammable. Store candles in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight as candles can fade/melt. Always burn candles in a draft free area. Trim your wick before each burn and use a wick dipper to extinguish your flame. Not trimming your wick can cause a part of the wick to break off & drop into the wax pool and ignite. Should this happen DO NOT extinguish candles with water as it can cause the opposite effect. Either blow it out, use fire extinguisher or fire blanket. Always remove wick debris from inside of candle.
